Crossroads Housing and Support is dedicated to providing safe, clean, and affordable housing with tailored support to help residents get back on track. We aim to empower individuals to lead independent lives and offer a range of services to help residents find work, education, and other opportunities for a better future.
Fill in our referral form at crossroadshousing.co.uk/referralform. You can do it yourself, or a worker can fill it in with you. If you need help with the form, call us on 0121 517 0188 and we'll go through it with you. Our team reviews every referral and gets back to you, usually the same working day. Once approved, we offer a viewing within 48 hours on a working day.
To live with us, you need to:
We provide a range of services and support to help our residents find work, education, and other opportunities to build a better future. Our support plans are tailored to the individual and can include life skills improvement, budget and debt consolidation, and training and volunteering opportunities.
As a resident, you are expected to respect the shared living spaces and the other residents. You must also engage in at least one hour of support per week and be willing to participate in any programmes or activities that are part of your individual support plan.
We encourage all residents to take full advantage of the support services offered, including educational opportunities, work programmes, and any offered personal development activities. Regular communication with your support worker can also help you to get the most out of these opportunities.
Whilst we will always try to work with you, we cannot accept non-engagement of the support offered and we do not tolerate the breaking of the rules that create a safe living and working environment for staff and residents. Breaking this agreement will mean your placement will be terminated and you will be required to leave.
Your rent is met by housing benefit. The service charge of £80 a month is separate and is paid by you. It is not covered by housing benefit. If you need help setting up payments, your support worker will go through it with you.
Every room is furnished, with bills and Wi-Fi included and no deposit to pay. You also get at least one hour of support a week from your support worker.
Our houses are across Birmingham, including Erdington, Edgbaston, Ladywood, Northfield, Selly Oak, Handsworth and Kings Heath. We have men-only and women-only houses as well as mixed houses. Tell us your preference on the referral form and we will match you to the right house.
There is no fixed end date. You can stay for as long as you need the support. When you are ready, your support worker will help you plan your move on to a home of your own.
Often, yes. We regularly house people leaving prison and people on licence, on a tag or on bail, and we work closely with West Midlands Probation. Tell us about any convictions on the referral form and we will look at them with you. We cannot house anyone with a sexual offence or an arson conviction.
We aim to review every referral the same working day. Once you are approved, we offer a viewing within 48 hours on a working day, and many people move in soon after their viewing.
Yes, up to 16 hours a week. Working more than that can affect the housing benefit that pays your rent, so talk to us first and we will go through it with you.
Yes, during the day. Overnight guests are not allowed, so that every resident has a safe and settled home.
No. Our houses are shared, so pets are not allowed.
No. We provide single rooms in shared houses for adults living on their own, so we cannot house couples, families with children, or anyone who is pregnant. If you need help finding somewhere, call us and we will point you to the right service.
